Tara Sutherland
I’m a Senior Technical Business Analyst and Digital Capability Consultant with more than 25 years of experience delivering business‑critical solutions across sectors, including health, energy, education, and enterprise technology.
I’m known for bringing clarity to complex problems, working comfortably across both strategic and technical environments, and engaging stakeholders at every level to deliver outcomes that actually stick.
Alongside my consulting work, I serve on the global leadership team as the APAC chair for IIBA’s Cyber Security Special Interest Group, where I help coordinate international membership processes and community engagement.
I’ve also developed AI‑readiness and enablement material for senior leaders, helping executives understand how AI reshapes decision‑making, governance, and capability across their organisations.
I’m known for mentoring analysts, driving continuous learning, thinking strategically - and, yes, for asking a lot of questions and having a lot of opinions. That combination reflects what I value most: clarity, curiosity, and improving the way we work.
If elected as Vice President, Membership, I will focus on:
- Strengthening member value through practical development opportunities, structured mentoring, and accessible learning pathways that reflect how our profession is changing.
- Enhancing engagement and retention with consistent communication, meaningful feedback loops, and a reliable, inclusive membership experience.
- Supporting national growth by connecting regional communities and creating clear pathways for students, emerging analysts, and experienced practitioners.
- Championing the relevance of the BA profession by helping members adapt their skills to a fast‑moving world shaped by AI, automation, and digital transformation, ensuring we remain trusted, strategic contributors.
“My vision is a modern, connected, and supportive IIBA Aotearoa New Zealand Chapter where members can continue to grow their capability, share knowledge openly, and feel proud to be part of a thriving BA community. I look forward to the opportunity to collaborate with the Board, volunteers, and members to continue building our Chapter. But most of all, I look forward to listening to what YOU want.
