Clean, Clear, and Crazy Effective: Is UPN the BPMN Upgrade We Need ?
 Feb 27, 2025 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm UTC+13:00
Auckland BPMN Business Process IIBA
As Business Analysts, we're all too familiar with the challenge of untangling complex processes, identifying inefficiencies, and delivering actionable recommendations – often with limited resources and tight deadlines. The business world's demand for "quick wins" is ever-present, and the pressure is on. After more than a decade of trying to master BPMN, Peter discovered something game-changing: Universal Process Notation (UPN). It’s a process mapping method that’s not only simpler but faster, providing the clarity, relatability and agility that BPMN sometimes lacks. UPN cuts through complexity without sacrificing depth, making it easier to communicate process insights to stakeholders and drive effective change. If we’re going to achieve more with less, faster—UPN might just be our new best tool. Peter has been using UPN at TVNZ with resounding success and support from stakeholders. In this session, he will share his experiences and provide you with practical tools and templates that you can apply immediately to your own work. And for anyone worried you've wasted so much time learning and applying BPMN; don't worry! Peter will also explain why both UPN and BPMN are not the same thing; and when to use each of them to support each other. Come and join for a fun event and take away knowledge that you can use right away.

Beyond requirements: How to ensure you're choosing the best 3rd party vendor ?
 Apr 10, 2025 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm UTC+12:00
#Leadership #BusinessAnalyst #CareerGrowth #ProfessionalDevelopment #IIBANZ IIBA Wellington
Too often, business analysts are left out of decision making when 3rd party vendors are involved, often leading to disastrous consequences. In this seminar, Emma McGahan discusses why it's critical to involve BAs from the beginning, how to get the best from the BA role, and approaches BAs and teams can use to ensure the best outcomes when working with vendors.
