High performance is often won in the margins - but those margins are rarely accidental.
Join IIBA New Zealand for a panel conversation exploring what business analysis can learn from elite sport. We’ll look beyond the medals and race results to unpack how high performers use data, feedback, judgement, systems thinking and continuous improvement to make better decisions under pressure.
Through the worlds of Olympic track cycling, sprint boat racing and high-performance programme leadership, this session will explore a question every organisation wrestles with: how do you turn information into improved performance?
Brought to you by IIBA New Zealand Chapter and Evolve Recruitment, join us for an in person event in Hamilton to hear from the following speakers and panelists:
Eddie Dawkins, Double Olympian and Commonwealth Games medalist - Olympic track cycling and marginal gains
Eddie will bring the athlete perspective from a sport where performance is measured in watts, milliseconds and fractions of a second. The conversation will explore how data, coaching insight, athlete intuition, technology and team decision-making come together in elite cycling, and what separates collecting performance data from acting on it.
Sam Newdick, New Zealand Champion Jetsprint driver - sprint boat racing, course analysis and real-time adaptation.
Sam’s world is one of changing tracks, tight rotations, boat setup, engine tuning and split-second decisions. He’ll share how drivers analyse each course, work with their engine and mechanics teams, interpret feedback, and adapt under pressure when the conditions, equipment or race plan change.
Amy Taylor, former General Manager of Performance at Cycling New Zealand - high-performance systems, culture and athlete experience.
Amy brings a systems view: how you lead change across programmes, people, culture, governance, and performance systems. Her perspective will help connect elite sport to organisational performance - especially how leaders measure what matters, balance data with lived experience, and create the conditions for people to perform.
