AGM 2023

The IIBA NZ Board portfolios come up for contesting through our annual election process. Portfolios are allocated for two years, and we stagger portfolio election timing to ensure we maintain some continuity of knowledge and experience; this means every year, some of the portfolios can be contested, which provides an excellent opportunity to bring in new ideas, and new enthusiasm and challenge the status quo.

The election process at a glance

  • Expression of Interest (EOI) - Show an interest  
  • Nominate - Confirm your commitment to run for the board position
  • Vote - Voting commences for the 2024-2026 Board Position Term
  • Announce – The election results will be announced to the members before 1st April 2024, the start of the new financial year

The Roles: 
 

We have three roles available for election:

  1. Treasurer
  2. Vice President - Membership (VP Membership)
  3. Vice President - Communication and Marketing (VP Marketing)

Nominees must be current members of the IIBA and a member of the IIBA NZ Chapter and available to discharge the duties of the nominated position for a term of 2 years.

Treasurer

Overview

As an IIBA NZ Chapter Board member, the Treasurer is responsible for managing the financial affairs of the Chapter by providing financial administration of the regular Board activities, conferences, and events delivered by the Chapter.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support IIBA NZ Chapter bylaws and policies as a Board member
  • Provide regular reports to the Board on the financial state of the organisation
  • Manage the accounting of the funds of the organisation, its budget and expenditures
  • Keep complete and accurate accounts of all organisational receipts and disbursements
  • Keep financial reports on file
  • Ensure that all Accounts Receivables and Accounts Payables are processed in full and on-time
  • Prepare and file the GST returns
  • Work with the Chapter Accountant to ensure that the annual Income Tax
  • Return is completed and filed with IRD on a timely basis (due by 31 March of the following year)
  • Prepare the annual financial statement report for the financial year ended 31 March and present it to members at the AGM with narration on key financial elements
  • Act as signing officer with the President, Secretary and Past President for financial transactions
  • Ensure that financial statements are filed with the Companies Office by the due date (September of that calendar year)
  • Orient the new Treasurer and lead a smooth transition

 

Competencies, experience and qualifications

  • Dedicated to learning and meeting IIBA NZ Chapter bylaws and policies
  • Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of the Board and the IIBA NZ communities
  • Current IIBA membership is essential
  • Knowledge of NZ taxation regulations and rules is essential
  • Experience with budget planning, bookkeeping, and GST returns is essential
  • Experience with organisational finances is desired
  • Experience with accounting and banking software applications is desired
  • A business analysis practitioner background is beneficial
  • Ability to develop a good working relationship with internal and external
  • stakeholders

Vice President - Membership

Overview

As an IIBA NZ Chapter Board member, Vice-President Member Services, or VP Membership, ensures that value services are offered to Chapter members according to their needs

Key Responsibilities

  • Support IIBA NZ Chapter bylaws and policies as a Board member
  • Act as the point of contact for IIBA NZ Chapter members for inquiries and feedback
  • Engage IIBA Global to ensure members’ inquiries are resolved
  • Lead a Chapter membership engagement strategy that influences membership growth
  • Provide regular reports to the Board on the state of membership
  • Support local event teams to deliver physical and virtual events
  • Represent the Board to attend events when applicable
  • Manage the Membership portfolio budget with a high degree of transparency
  • Orient the new VP Member and lead a smooth transition

 

Competencies, experience and qualifications

  • Dedicated to learning and meeting IIBA NZ Chapter bylaws and policies
  • Dedicated to meeting the expectation and requirements of the Board and
  • the IIBA NZ communities
  • Current IIBA membership is essential
  • A senior business analysis practitioner background is essential
  • Knowledge of the benefits of IIBA Membership is essential
  • Knowledge of the IIBA framework and models is essential
  • A CBAP certification is desired
  • Experience in event organisation is desired
  • Experience working with external sponsors and supporters is desired
  • Customer-focused
  • Ability to develop a good working relationship with internal and external
  • stakeholders

Vice President - Communication and Marketing

Overview

As an IIBA NZ Chapter Board member, The Vice-President of Communications and Marketing, or VP of Marketing, is responsible for the timely dissemination of information to and from the Chapter members, using appropriate means to accomplish the objective. They are also responsible for promoting the Chapter and the IIBA to internal and external publications.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support IIBA NZ Chapter bylaws and policies as a Board member
  • Owner of the Marcomms activities for the IIBA NZ Chapter
  • Lead a Chapter Marcomms strategy that influences membership growth
  • Manage the Marketing and Communication portfolio budget with a high degree of transparency
  • Orient the new VP Marketing and lead a smooth transition

 

Competencies, experience and qualifications

  • Dedicated to learning and meeting IIBA NZ Chapter bylaws and policies
  • Dedicated to meeting the expectation and requirements of the Board and the IIBA NZ communities
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Experience with Marcomms is essential
  • Current IIBA membership is essential 
  • Experience using major social media platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook etc.) to conduct Marcomms is beneficial
  • Knowledge of the benefits of IIBA Membership is beneficial
  • Knowledge of the IIBA framework and models is beneficial
  • Customer-focused
  • Ability to develop a good working relationship with internal and external stakeholders
